# Starstruck {% embed url="" %} As percussionists, especially when playing in groups, we are often instructed and encouraged to play in strict time. Even the use of a metronome may be recommended. Fortunately, as solo percussionists, we have the liberty to stray away from this common practice to express ourselves freely without any constraints. While performing this selection, my goal was to reiterate a simple melody, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", while also projecting my own voice and lyrical ideas. The tempo was an afterthought.
