đŸŒŗEchoes from the Beltline

.... a narrative soundscape composition experienced through a geo-location-based iPhone application. Inspired by historic and contemporary soundscape techniques, our interactive app allows users to experience a soundwalk in real-time. We explored the concept of 'earwitness' accounts, drawing from the works of R. Murray Schafer and contemporary composer Yvette Janine Jackson. Our composition, recorded on the Atlanta Beltline, incorporates environmental sounds and manipulated sound sculptures to create three distinct sound areas: Serenity, Peace, and Succumbing. Using Unity and Mapbox, we developed an app with real-time GPS tracking and custom UI elements for an immersive audio experience. Despite challenges in balancing abstraction and reality, our innovative approach streamlined the integration of coordinate data, enabling scalable soundwalk creation. Our project, "Echoes of the Beltline: An Earwitness Account," lays a foundation for future creative and scholarly exploration in narrative soundscape composition.
